About Us

Norwich Premier Judo Club was founded in 1959 at the YMCA in Norwich.

The permanent Dojo remained at the YMCA until the mid 80s when it had to find a new home due to refurbishment and building works at the YMCA.

The club had temporary non-permanent Dojos at the Lads Club in Kings Street and at the Sportspark at the UEA before moving to its new home at Heathgate Community Centre in 2009.

The Club offers Judo to all abilities and levels from the age of 8 years upwards and at present is looking to extend classes to 6 years+, Judoka can practice at recreational level right through to competitive level with training paced to suit the individual.

Over the years the club has produced British squad members and British and European Champions, currently a Club member is ranked within the top 50 in the UK. Many of the judoka are also medal winners at various competitions.

Norwich Premier Judo Club is also home to other clubs and groups that use the venue, Jujitsu and Tokoh Aiki Jitsu Aikido among the classes on offer.

If you are looking for a venue to use for a club, group or one off event please check our calendar for availability and contact Nigel Thompson to arrange a viewing.
